The Center on the Developing Child’s Doctoral Working Group is an interdisciplinary forum that will meet several times throughout the academic year. This yearlong, non-credit Doctoral Working Group will feature interactive sessions led by advanced doctoral students, postdocs, faculty and guest speakers, and will offer a blend of practical information on how to navigate your time as a doctoral student as well as substantive content. This Working Group is perfect for graduate students across the University who are early in their doctoral studies and have an interest in early childhood and adolescent health and development. Participating doctoral candidates will also be given the opportunity to present some of their own work. Dinner will be served at each session.
Our first session will be an orientation to the Center on September 10, 2012, from 4-5:30 pm, in the 4th Floor Atrium at 50 Church Street, Cambridge.
Our second session will feature Jack P. Shonkoff, M.D., the Center's Director, on September 18, 2012, from 5:30-7:30 pm. This is a joint session with the Center's Student Seminar Series.
Future sessions will be held on Mondays from 4:30-6:30 pm with alternating sessions in Cambridge and at the Harvard School of Public Health. Visit the Center's Web site for a list of Doctoral Working Group topics.
In order to maximize interaction, the number of participants will be limited. Applications are due by September 28, 2012 by 12 Noon. Early application is encouraged.
