I agree to provide the adopted cat with a lifelong loving home, with proper food, shelter and water available at all times. I am not adopting this cat as a gift for anyone else. I am the person responsible for this cat’s care for the duration of his/her life.
I agree to keep the cat in my home at all times and not transfer him or her to any other party. The cat will be kept securely indoors, with screens in my windows that are never opened (either bottom or top), and without access to back yards, balconies, terraces, fire escapes, rooftops or public hallways.
I understand that the cat may take a period of time to adjust to his or her new surroundings. I will notify elena bass or sean whalen of any adjustment difficulties and ask for assistance if there are problems.
I will not abandon or give up the cat to anyone, including any shelter or laboratory. If I am unable to keep the cat for any reason, I will notify elena bass or sean whalen, making every effort to keep him or her for a reasonable amount of time until elena or sean finds him or her a new home or foster care.
I agree to provide the cat with all necessary medical care, including check-ups and veterinary care for any unusual symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, runny eyes, weight loss, hair loss, scratching, vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea, loss of appetite, blood in stool, straining in the litter box, urinating outside the litter box, fever, etc.
I will not de-claw or de-fang the adopted cat under any circumstances.
I will not permit the adopted cat to reproduce. If sterilization has not already been performed, I will neuter or spay (neuter/male, spay/female) the adopted cat at 6 months of age.
If the adopted cat is lost, I will make every effort to recover him or her, notifying elena bass or sean whalen, the ASPCA, Petfinders, Petwatch, local veterinarians, local police, local cat rescuers, and posting signs.
To the best of my ability, I agree to provide for my companion cat’s future security by informing those closest to me of the presence of the cat in my home and of the fact that elena bass or sean whalen should be contacted immediately in the event of any emergency that makes it impossible for me to keep or provide for the cat.
I agree to make arrangements for cat care if I go away on vacation or business.
elena bass and sean whalen will not be held liable for any medical costs after adoption, nor for damage or injury to persons, property or any other cats, which the adopted cat may cause.
Failure to abide by my commitments under this agreement, or any other mistreatment of the adopted cat(s) shall constitute a violation of this contract and the cat(s) shall be returned upon demand.
