CLS will be offering social circles this Fall.
Social circles are a way to get the children to socialize while still observing social-distancing and safety rules.
Here is how they work:
All activities are held outside on the school playground.
Once a week, children are paired with peers from the same grade to form small groups of no more than 8 students &1 instructor.
We strongly advise that a parent or caregiver of our Pre-K and K be present during social circles. Very often these students have never been in school and it would be impossible for CLS staff to comply to social distancing rules if a child does not feel comfortable while the activity is run.
Social Groups will start with an ice breaker and will continue with an instructor-led activity for a total of 45 minutes.
All children and instructor will be wearing masks.
Children should bring: a mask, hand sanitizer, a snack & water bottle. They should also use the bathroom prior coming to the activity since there will be no access to restrooms nearby.
Children must be dropped off and picked up by a parent or caregiver. Only authorized persons will be allowed to pick up the children, no exceptions.
Circles will be cancelled in case of inclement weather. Cancellations will be sent VIA EMAIL at least one hour prior to the start of the activity. CLS won't be able to issue any refunds or credits for inclement weather cancellations.
Social groups will be held at
Lafayette - Lafayette Baseball Field on Tuesdays
Murch - Soccer field on Fessenden Street, behind Deal Middle School on Wednesdays
Takoma - Takoma Elementary Recreation Center - Highland avenue and 8th. St. NW. on Thursdays
This activity will run from September 1st to October 30th. Each group will meet once a week either from 3:45-4:30 pm OR 4:30-5:15 pm.
Fees are based on the number of days that each group will meet.
An assumption of risk (to be signed by parents) and safety rules protocol document will be sent after we receive your registration.
