Impressions 2018: National Juried Printmaking Exhibition - Montgomery College – Rockville Campus Art Department, Rockville Maryland

Impressions 2018 is a national juried printmaking exhibition that celebrates the continued vitality, diversity and validity of printmaking as a fine art medium and relevant form of expression in the 21st century. This exhibition will take place in the Sarah Silberman Art Gallery, housed in the Paul Peck Art Building, Montgomery College – Rockville Campus, Rockville Maryland.


October 31, 2017:  ENTRY DEADLINE

November 14:  Email notification of jury results and insurance forms for accepted artists.

November 28:  Mailed insurance forms received from exhibiting artists.

January 2-9: 2018:  Deadline for arrival of shipped works. 

January 16: 2018:  Accepted works hand delivered to the Rockville Campus Art Department, 51 Mannakee St., Rockville MD 20850, 2nd floor, Sarah Silberman Art Gallery, 10:00am - ­4:00pm.

January 23:  Exhibition opens to the public.  

January 24:  Reception with light refreshments, 11:30 am ‐ 1:00 pm. 

February 16:  Exhibition closes.

February 19: Pick up of hand-­delivered work from gallery 10:00 am ­‐ 4:00 pm. Please

show ID for return of work. Shipped works packed for return.


Original works in all printmaking media including intaglio, lithography, relief, screenprinting, monoprints, monotypes, digital prints, mixed printmaking media, and three-­dimensional prints are eligible. We will not consider photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium. Works must be completed in the last two years. This exhibition is open to Artist’s living or working in the United States. Currently enrolled Montgomery College students and past or present Montgomery College employees are not eligible.  Scale of all works submitted should not exceed 48 inches in any dimension. Artwork to be displayed on a wall must have a hanging wire or some other suitable hanging device such as hang tabs. No glass, but plexi is acceptable. 


Professor John Carr is the Printmaking Coordinator at the Montgomery College - Rockville Campus Art Department. He received his M.F.A. in Printmaking from West Virginia University. 

Professor Michael Sellmeyer is the Color Theory Coordinator at the Montgomery College­ ‐ Rockville Campus Art Department. He received his M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Assistant Professor Amanda Gordon Miller is the Woodcut and Relief Printmaking instructor at Montgomery College - Rockville Campus as well as Drawing and Art History instructor at the Germantown campus. She received her BFA in Painting and MA in Museum Studies at Syracuse University.

Each work must have a label with the artist's name, address, phone number, and the title attached firmly to the back of the 2D work and on the bottom of 3D work.


January 16, 2018: Hand-­delivered works accepted at the Sarah Silberman Art Gallery on the 2nd floor of the Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, Paul Peck Art Building, 10 am -­ 4 pm. Maps to the Montgomery College – Rockville Campus:


Shipped work must be packed in sturdy, reusable containers and should arrive between January 2 and January 9, 2018. Artists need to prepay for return shipping. Return shipping label should be placed inside shipping container with artwork. The Art Department will not ship art to an address outside of the United States. All shipping and shipping insurance costs for artwork to and from Montgomery College are the responsibility of the artist. Prepaid return postage and a pre-­addressed mailing label must accompany all artwork. No cash payments for return shipping and no C.O.D.’s.

February19: Pick up of hand-­delivered work from gallery 10 a.m.-­4 p.m. Please show picture ID for return of work. Shipped works repackaged for return February 25.


No commission will be taken from sales of works. The Art Department will take the name and contact information of anyone interested in purchasing work, and relay this information to the artist. The exhibition is sponsored by the Montgomery College-­Rockville Art Department. There is a $1000 deductible with the college insurance policy. Entries will be handled with all possible care. The Art Department reserves the right to install the accepted works in the manner deemed necessary for exhibition or security reasons. Montgomery College will not be responsible for works left after February 19, 2018. Artists are responsible for insurance while art is in transport. Sending an entry constitutes an agreement by the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.

GALLERY HOURS The Sarah Silberman Art Gallery will be open Mondays through Fridays, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm for the duration of the exhibition.
