OBTAINING CREDIT FOR CLASSES

You may take a class or classes offered for graduate credit from an accredited college or university.  You will have to pay for these credits, according to the fee charged by the university or college.  You may take the credits in Gillette, or some place else; and credits acquired in this manner will apply toward horizontal movement on the salary schedule, i.e. for every fifteen credits you may move one horizontal column.  Each time you move one column, you will earn additional pay that applies from that time onward.

You may take a class or classes for CCSD credit.  Taking a class only for CCSD credit will not cost you anything and it will apply toward recertifying (getting your next certificate); but you can use only six of these credits for any particular lane change.  All of the credits you earn to get your next teaching license can be CCSD, or all of them can be graduate credit, or some combination of the two.

In Campbell County we also have another way for you to earn credit.  You may take what are called "Action Labs".  Most action labs are three hours and meet one time.  Five action labs equal one CCSD credit.  These also cost you nothing, because eventually the action lab credits become CCSD credits.  Action lab credits can, however, also be taken for University of Wyoming graduate credit at a rate of $50 per credit.  If you opt to take a class for University of Wyoming credit, please make sure you bring your checkbook with you to the first class to register and pay for the fees.  The university has a new policy now that all class registrations must be sent to them right after the first class.  If you know you will miss the first class session, please plan on taking the class at another time.

For example, to move from the BA column to a BA+15 column, you could only use six CCSD credits.  The remaining nine credits would have to be graduate classes.  All credits earned as CCSD credit are automatically also earned as PTSB.

Finally, you can be reimbursed by CCSD for one half of the cost of graduate level classes you take, up to $45 per credit hour.  For example, if you take a three credit class and each credit costs $50, the class would cost you $150.  The school district will reimburse you $75.  In order to get this reimbursement, however, you must fill out a reimbursement form (these can be picked up at your school or at SD) before class starts.  Then after you receive your grade turn it in with your proof of payment to the Human Resources Department.

If you have any questions email or call Michele Wenzel - 307-687-1666.

Student Information

District Postion *

**Please read this as some things have changed with the registrations process**

Please be advised that each class has different enrollment policies.  Some will have a maximum class limit and once that limit is reached, you will have the option to register/click on the waiting list.  If you receive an email that we had a cancellation, at that point you can accept or deny the spot in the class.  If you do not receive an email and you are on the waiting list, unfortunately that means that you are not on the active class roster.

The technology classes may be limited, so for these classes you will BE NOTIFIED closer to the class date if you are enrolled in the class.  With the technology classes we will notify you either way if you are SUCESSFULLY ENROLLED or not.

Unless the action lab is a technology class, you are more than likely guaranteed a spot.  Unless you receive an email that the class filled or it was cancelled, you are ENROLLED in the class.

We will send an email out 10 days prior to the class and again 2 days prior.  If you cannot make the class you will need to notify the instructor.

*You may sign up for as many classes or action labs that you would like.

*Just check the box next to the course you are interested in.  We will send you confirmation once we know you have a spot in the class.

**Some classes will have exceptions**

Lakeway Learning Center - Apple Lab

Instructor(s): Cathy McGeowan & TBA
