2020 CA FELLOW APPLICATION

Community Action is a week-long orientation program for the first-year class sponsored by the Pace Center for Civic Engagement. CA seeks to promote an ethic of meaningful service among undergraduates, foster productive collaboration between the University and surrounding communities, and engage all participants in both academic and interpersonal dialogue.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: CA Fellows are responsible for community partnership development, communications, service-learning activities, and logistical planning associated with all aspects of the Community Action program. CA Fellows work collaboratively on planning the small-group experiences of their assigned regions. CA Fellows provide support and guidance to the CA Leaders and Support Team Members, facilitate trainings and serve as mentors throughout the program. CA Fellows report to the Pace Center Community Action Program Staff and receive ongoing professional development.

PROGRAM COMMITMENT: The CA Fellow position is a year-long term and applicants are committing to the entire timeframe. The position begins the week of February 25, 2019 and ends the week of December 9, 2019. Below is a breakdown of the time commitment required per semester (spring/summer/fall):

February 10 – May 1, 2020: Hourly (G-Rate): 6-8 hours/week

  • Focus is on community research and ideation
  • Includes Professional Development Training Series

June 8 – September 1, 2020: Hourly (G-Rate) (most Fellows earn $6,500 over the course of the summer) | Internship: 40 hours/week with some nights/weekends

  • 12-week Internship, includes 5 days/1-week vacation time
  • Focus on Program Planning, Logistics, Community Partner Visits, Training
  • Includes CA Group Leader & Support Team Training Week
  • Includes Week of CA & Leader Debriefs

September 14 – December 11, 2020: Hourly (G-Rate): 4-6 hours/week

  • Focus on evaluation, debrief, reflection, and report writing
  • Includes Welcome to Service, Civic Engagement Activities Fair, and other Orientation/Welcome events

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Member of Princeton’s Class of 2021, 2022, 2023
  • Preference for volunteer or event coordination, and/or community outreach. 
  • Available for all position and program dates (see above)
  • University Authorized Van Driver (or willing to be certified)
  • In good standing with Princeton University
