The Animal Care and Adoption Centre welcomes volunteers to help with general animal care tasks. Use this form to tell us your availability and the type of tasks you’d like to help us with.
Volunteer requirements
You will need to meet the following requirements to be a volunteer at the Animal Care and Adoption Centre. Please tick to indicate you meet each requirement. You must: *

be at least 18 years old
have a moderate fitness level
be able to safely bend, squat, twist and turn
be able to safely lift 10 kg
be able to work independently and as part of a team
be able to cope with unexpected animal behaviour without assistance
have a positive attitude, communicate well and be able to take direction
have a current tetanus vaccination
have access to transport to attend routine scheduled volunteer shifts
be free from drugs and alcohol and agree to undertake random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Council’s zero tolerance Drug and Alcohol Policy.

For dog care: walking/ enrichment/ cleaning/ bathing, you must be able to safely:
  • lift 10kg;
  • bend, squat, twist and turn;
  • navigate and walk on uneven and rough terrain;
  • withstand continued pulling and pushing from walking dog/s on leads;
  • remain stable on your feet to withstand dogs jumping up to say hello; and
  • cope with unexpected animal behaviour without assistance

  • lift 10kg;
  • bend, squat, twist and turn;
  • navigate in small areas approximately 2m²; and
  • cope with unexpected animal behaviour without assistance
