Cape Cod Foster Closet - FILLED

The Cape Cod Foster Closet is an organization that supports foster and relative caregiver families by providing material goods for children in care and helps fulfill the physical and emotional needs of foster families throughout the year. Volunteers will help the closet get ready for their annual 'Welcome Summer' event where they give away summer clothing and gear to 150+ families and they will need 6-8 volunteers for 3 hours to organize and inventory new donated summer gear.

Colorful Kidz, a local nonprofit organization, came to our attention this year and was recently awarded a MAR Charitable spring grant. "We believe a child's room should be their sanctuary; a place for comfort & healing and we create that space for kids in need." Volunteers refurbish entire rooms, from floor installation to providing fresh linens. Our CCIAOR group will primarily be painting furniture as there are currently seven different rooms on the Cape that need our help. Be sure to wear your old clothes for this one!

Dream Day on Cape Cod is a camp located adjacent to Nickerson State Park on 31 acres and is dedicated to bringing respite into the lives of children with serious or life-threatening illness. It's a place where a kid can just be a kid. Let's help them prepare for their campers! Projects include cleaning cabins, light painting and general tasks.

Cape Kid Meals - FILLED

Cape Kid Meals was created to close the gap and provide food for students over the weekend. One in six children on Cape Cod are facing hunger and many of these children are school-aged. Most participate in the free breakfast and lunch programs, however weekends can be very difficult for many. Cape Kid Meals helps close that gap and serves 70% of all public schools on the Cape. Tasks include packing non-perishable food for the weekend and breaking down packaging.

Our friends at Champ Homes provide transitional housing to adults on Cape Cod who are homeless or near homeless in a safe, compassionate and respectful environment. Participants have included local students, veterans and individuals from all backgronds that have fallen on hard times. They could use your help with some spring cleaning and a variety of landscaping prep.
Vineyard House

Vineyard House - 'A Way Home' - provides housing for men and women in need of a safe structured living environment while in the early states of recovery from alcohol & drug addiction in a specially designed recovery community. Volunteer for an hour or two or longer depending on your schedule. There's a wide range of tasks for different abilities and interests, including planting flowers, assembling raffle items, organizing meeting rooms and more!
Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum & Cultural Center

The Museum & Cultural Center was the site of our Leadership Academy Diversity & Inclusion Session last year. It celebrates Cabo Verde's rich history, culture and its contributions to the world. The grounds include the Museum, meeting space and garden. This historic property was famous nationally for its top-producing strawberry farm in the early 1900's which is where our volunteers will help with replanting, weeding, and general maintenance.

Cape Abilities Thrift Store

Cape Abilities works to create an inclusive community for people of all abilities and supports individuals with disabilities on the Cape by educating, counseling and providng residential, therapeutic, social and employment supports that empowers individuals to achieve meaningful and valued roles in the community. Cape Abilities Thrift is one of the social enterprises for the organization and will be the location where volunteers help beautify the outside space by planting, weeding and mulching. (Be sure to visit the store while you are there!)
